Soft Pauer rebuilds its team travel app for iOS 27, opens up itinerary data to AI tools, and starts counting the CO2e of getting a crew to a venue.

Soft Pauer has released version 3.6 of EventR, the team travel and coordination app that started out moving Formula 1 crews around a 24-race calendar and now sells to event teams doing the same job with less money and fewer people.

The Bicester-based company says 3.6 rebuilds the whole app as a native iOS 27 application. Alex Powell, CEO, describes the result as “many tweaks and tucks under the hood, reducing start up times, speeding up actions, and adding many more native gestures. Almost every part of the app has been touched to produce the most responsive team experience yet.”

Android users and the web version of EventR Team are next in line rather than left behind, according to Powell. The iOS rebuild was the groundwork for what Soft Pauer calls Duo Layouts, which will bring Android and Team for Web into line in the following release.

What’s new in 3.6

Three additions matter for event operations teams.

Import, export and an agent skill. EventR Coordinator, the admin side of the product, now gives Enterprise users full import and export of their itinerary data. Alongside it, Soft Pauer is releasing an agent skill for AI tools. The idea is that a coordinator collects the loose booking confirmations and schedules for a trip, hands the lot to their AI assistant, and gets back a complete itinerary ready to import into EventR. Whether that itinerary is right first time is the question every ops lead will ask, and it’s the one we’ll be putting to the team on the stand in November. Itinerary tagging at scale. Tagging has been extended so that coordination teams can manage thousands of itineraries across time zones without losing track of them. “Now we have been around for a few years, our customers are demanding more controls over their data so their coordination teams can work across multiple timezones with thousands of schedules,” Powell says. “3.6 now brings more tools to enable security, customizations and sharing between different administrative groups. Itinerary tags will continue to evolve quickly from 3.6, so we’re excited to bring them to our users.”

A carbon calculator. Enterprise users get the first release of EventR’s tCO2e calculator. Because the app already holds the flights, transfers and hotel nights for every itinerary, Soft Pauer says it can produce a carbon figure per trip without anyone filling in a form. The first release covers travel and accommodation, using the UK government’s 2026 greenhouse gas reporting conversion factors. Powell says factors for other jurisdictions may follow.

“CO2 reporting is a legal requirement in many countries, and often the calculations can be expensive to gather the information,” Powell says. “EventR’s holistic approach to tracking CO2 means that as your team works, it can silently produce this information from its realtime understanding of your delivery. Take 10 people to Paris staying for 5 nights with transfers to and from the venue, and EventR will calculate the carbon footprint for that whole trip.”

Where it came from

EventR was built inside Soft Pauer, the Oxfordshire developer that produced the official Formula 1 timing apps from 2008 and was picked by Apple as a launch app for the original iPad in 2010. The company says the app was first written for Aston Martin’s F1 team, which needed to move around 120 staff to 24 races a year and was doing it on paper and spreadsheets. It launched publicly in February 2024 with Otmar Szafnauer, the former Force India, Aston Martin and Alpine team principal, as chairman.

Powell describes current usage as “from Surfers Paradise to Silverstone for thousands of teams”.

“With the release of 3.6 I’m excited to see how the team has evolved the requirements of Formula 1 to deliver these gains to the global audience,” Szafnauer says.

The new features sit on top of the existing set:

• Travel management including hotel bookings, transfers and a live flight monitor
• Group chat by activity
• Cost tracking for the whole event, including allowances and receipts
• An offline document store
• Sharing to new team members with collaborative editing
